Clinical-strength antiperspirants that contain aluminum chloride are usually the first thing to try, but they have to be reapplied constantly and can irritate the skin, and for many people with hyperhidrosis they simply are not strong enough. Prescription oral medications can reduce sweating throughout the body, but because they work everywhere they can cause side effects like dry mouth, blurred vision, and overheating.
