Botox Injections in Chicagoland

Botox Cosmetic is an FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A injectable that temporarily relaxes the specific facial muscles responsible for expression lines. When a licensed injector places a small amount of Botox into a targeted muscle, it blocks the nerve signal that tells that muscle to contract. The muscle relaxes, and the overlying skin smooths.

Botox works on dynamic wrinkles – lines that form from repeated muscle movement like squinting, frowning, or raising your brows. It does not affect skin texture, sensation, or the surrounding muscles that create natural facial expressions.

Results appear gradually over 3 to 14 days as the neurotoxin takes effect. Most patients see their full result by day 14, which is why we schedule a complimentary 2-week check-in for first-time patients.

Our injectors place Botox in the specific muscle groups where you want to soften movement. Common cosmetic treatment areas include:

• Forehead lines – horizontal creases that appear when you raise your brows
• Glabella (11 lines) – vertical lines between the brows from frowning
• Crow’s feet – fine lines that fan out from the outer corners of the eyes
• Brow lift – subtle upward repositioning of the brow arch with strategic placement above the lateral brow
• Bunny lines – diagonal lines on the sides of the nose from scrunching

Express Med Spa offers both Botox Cosmetic and Xeomin. Both are botulinum toxin type A injectables and both work by the same mechanism. The difference is in formulation: Botox Cosmetic contains accessory proteins alongside the active toxin, while Xeomin is a “naked” formulation with those proteins removed.

In practice, most patients do not notice a meaningful difference in results between the two. Your injector will recommend the product that best fits your treatment history and goals. Patients who have received consistent Botox for many years and notice reduced responsiveness sometimes find that switching to Xeomin restores their results.

Your appointment begins with a brief consultation. Your injector reviews your concerns, assesses your facial muscle movement, and marks the planned injection points. A topical numbing cream is available on request, though most patients find the injections comfortable without it.

The injections themselves take 15 to 20 minutes. You can return to most normal activities immediately afterward. Express Med Spa’s locations in La Grange, Frankfort, Shorewood, and Mt. We schedule a complimentary 2-week follow-up for all first-time Botox patients. If any area needs a touch-up – or if you want to adjust the dose – we address it at that visit before results fully stabilize.

Most patients see results lasting 3 to 4 months. Several factors influence how long your individual results hold:

• Treatment history – First-time Botox patients often notice results beginning to fade closer to the 2 to 3 month mark. With consistent treatment over 1 to 2 years, the targeted muscles gradually weaken from underuse, and many patients find their results extend to 4 months or beyond.
• Metabolism – A faster metabolic rate can process the neurotoxin more quickly, shortening the duration of effect.
• Treatment area – High-activity areas like crow’s feet may fade slightly faster than the forehead, which moves less throughout the day.
• Units used – Conservative dosing may produce a shorter duration. Your injector calibrates units to your muscle mass and the level of correction you are looking for.

Most patients schedule maintenance appointments every 3 to 4 months to keep results continuous. Some patients who have treated consistently for several years find they can extend to every 4 to 6 months.
