Lip filler augmentation before and after with added volume at Express Med Spa Chicago

Hyaluronic Acid Lip Filler

Lip Filler Augmentation

Fuller, more defined lips are one of the most requested treatments we do, and for good reason. A well-placed lip filler can add volume, restore the definition that fades with age, improve symmetry, and give the lips a shape that photographs naturally and looks proportional to your face. At Express Med Spa, we use Revanesse Lips+, a hyaluronic acid filler specifically designed for lip augmentation. Every appointment is performed by a licensed nurse practitioner or registered nurse injector, and every result is planned around your specific lip anatomy and what you actually want, not a generic look. Whether you are completely new to lip filler or you have had it before and want a provider who takes it seriously, we want your result to look like a better version of your lips, not someone else's.

RESULTS TIMELINE

Results are visible immediately following treatment. Initial swelling in the first 24 to 72 hours will make the lips appear fuller than the final settled result. This is temporary. Optimal, natural-looking results are typically seen at the one to two week mark once swelling has fully resolved. Patients attending events or having photos taken should plan their appointment at least two weeks in advance.

Result Last

9 to 12 months on average for a full syringe. Individual longevity varies based on lip anatomy, metabolism, activity level, and lifestyle factors. Patients who maintain consistent treatment over time often find their results last toward the longer end of that range. A mini lip filler top-up at the six-month mark is an option for patients who want to maintain their result between full syringe appointments.

About This Treatment

What is Lip Filler Augmentation?

Lip filler augmentation is a non-surgical injectable treatment that uses a hyaluronic acid gel to add volume, improve shape, and restore definition to the lips. It is one of the most popular aesthetic treatments in the country and one of the most requested services at Express Med Spa across all four of our Chicagoland locations.

The treatment takes 30 to 45 minutes, requires no surgery or anesthesia, and produces visible results the same day. For patients who approach it with clear goals and realistic expectations, it can be one of the most satisfying injectable treatments available.

Treatment Pricing

Price shown is for one full syringe (1mL) of Revanesse Lips+. Most patients achieve their desired result with one syringe. Patients who want a more significant enhancement or who are restoring more substantial volume loss may benefit from a second syringe, which your provider will discuss with you during consultation before any product is used. A half-syringe Mini Lip Filler option is available at $349 for patients who want a more subtle result or are trying lip filler for the first time.

Who I'ts For

Good Candidates? Is This Right for You?

Lip filler augmentation is appropriate for adults 22 years and older who want to add volume to the lips, restore lip fullness that has diminished with age, improve the definition and clarity of the lip border, address mild asymmetry between the upper and lower lip or between the left and right sides, or achieve a more balanced and proportional appearance to the lower face.

Patients do not need naturally thin lips to be a good candidate. Many patients who seek lip filler have lips they were satisfied with years ago but feel have gradually lost their definition, projection, or fullness over time. Others want a modest enhancement to lips they have always considered a feature worth improving. Both motivations are valid and both produce good outcomes when the treatment is planned appropriately for the patient’s individual anatomy and goal.

This treatment is planned conservatively. A full syringe is the standard appointment, but your nurse practitioner will assess your lip anatomy during consultation and recommend the amount of product that makes sense for your proportions and your goal. The aim in every appointment is a result that looks like a better version of your lips, not a departure from them. We can always add more at a follow-up. We cannot take it out once it is in.

Patients who are uncertain about committing to a full syringe are encouraged to consider our Mini Lip Filler appointment at $349, which uses a half syringe and produces a more subtle result.

What To Expect

Pre & Post Treatment Care

Pre-Care Instructions

Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 48 to 72 hours before your appointment if medically safe to do so. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, fish oil, vitamin E, and alcohol. Do not stop any prescription medication without consulting your prescribing physician first.
Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.
Arrive with clean, makeup-free lips. Remove all lipstick, lip liner, lip gloss, and any topical treatments from the lip area before your appointment.
Stay well hydrated and eat a light meal before your visit to reduce the chance of lightheadedness during treatment.
If you have a history of cold sores or oral herpes simplex virus, you must disclose this before booking. Any lip injection can trigger a herpes simplex reactivation. Your provider may recommend a short course of antiviral medication before your appointment as a precaution.
Do not schedule lip filler within 4 weeks of laser resurfacing, intense pulsed light, chemical peel, or dermabrasion at or near the lip area.
Inform your provider of all current medications, supplements, recent dental procedures, and any changes to your health since your last visit.
If you have active dental work, an oral infection, or a scheduled dental procedure within two weeks of your appointment, notify your provider before booking.

Post-Care Instructions

Do not rub, massage, or apply any pressure to your lips for at least 24 hours following treatment.
Avoid lip products for the remainder of your treatment day, including lipstick, lip gloss, lip liner, and balm. You may resume lip products the following day.
Avoid kissing, using straws, and any activity requiring significant lip puckering for 24 to 48 hours as the filler settles.
Avoid strenuous exercise and activities that significantly elevate your heart rate for 24 hours after your appointment.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment to minimize bruising and swelling.
Avoid sleeping face-down on the night of your treatment. Sleep on your back if possible.
Avoid significant heat exposure for 24 to 48 hours, including saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, and prolonged sun exposure.
Mild swelling is expected and typically most noticeable in the first 24 to 72 hours. A cold compress applied gently can help reduce swelling, do not press or massage the lips.
Allow a full two weeks before evaluating your result. Swelling in the first few days can make your lips appear fuller than the final settled outcome.
Contact Express Med Spa immediately if you experience a cold sore outbreak, severe pain, skin discoloration, or any symptoms that concern you after treatment.
