Lip filler augmentation before and after with added volume at Express Med Spa Chicago

Hyaluronic Acid Lip Filler

Lip Filler Augmentation

Fuller, more defined lips are one of the most requested treatments we do, and for good reason. A well-placed lip filler can add volume, restore the definition that fades with age, improve symmetry, and give the lips a shape that photographs naturally and looks proportional to your face. At Express Med Spa, we use Revanesse Lips+, a hyaluronic acid filler specifically designed for lip augmentation. Every appointment is performed by a licensed nurse practitioner or registered nurse injector, and every result is planned around your specific lip anatomy and what you actually want, not a generic look. Whether you are completely new to lip filler or you have had it before and want a provider who takes it seriously, we want your result to look like a better version of your lips, not someone else's.

RESULTS TIMELINE

Results are visible immediately following treatment. Initial swelling in the first 24 to 72 hours will make the lips appear fuller than the final settled result. This is temporary. Optimal, natural-looking results are typically seen at the one to two week mark once swelling has fully resolved. Patients attending events or having photos taken should plan their appointment at least two weeks in advance.

Result Last

9 to 12 months on average for a full syringe. Individual longevity varies based on lip anatomy, metabolism, activity level, and lifestyle factors. Patients who maintain consistent treatment over time often find their results last toward the longer end of that range. A mini lip filler top-up at the six-month mark is an option for patients who want to maintain their result between full syringe appointments.

BEST FOR

  • Stefanie Drozd, Full Practice Authority Nurse Practitioner specializing in aesthetic and wellness treatments

    How does lip filler work?

A hyaluronic acid gel, Revanesse Lips+, is placed precisely into the lips to add volume and structure. Hyaluronic acid attracts and holds water, so the result feels soft and moves naturally when you talk and smile.

  • Stefanie Drozd, Full Practice Authority Nurse Practitioner specializing in aesthetic and wellness treatments

    What can lip filler shape?

Beyond overall volume, filler can sharpen the lip border, restore fullness that fades with age, balance asymmetry between the upper and lower lip, and improve how your lips photograph in proportion to your face.

  • Stefanie Drozd, Full Practice Authority Nurse Practitioner specializing in aesthetic and wellness treatments

    What happens during the appointment?

After a consultation and numbing, your nurse practitioner or nurse injector places the filler over a 30 to 45 minute visit. Revanesse Lips+ also contains a built-in anesthetic, so comfort is managed from both directions.

  • Stefanie Drozd, Full Practice Authority Nurse Practitioner specializing in aesthetic and wellness treatments

When will I see the final result, and how long does it last?

Results are visible immediately, though swelling in the first 24 to 72 hours makes lips look fuller than the settled result. The natural final look arrives at one to two weeks and lasts 9 to 12 months on average.

  • Stefanie Drozd, Full Practice Authority Nurse Practitioner specializing in aesthetic and wellness treatments

Full syringe or mini lip filler?

A full syringe (1mL) delivers a noticeable, camera-ready enhancement. The mini (half syringe) suits first-timers and subtle refreshes. Most patients wanting a visible change choose the full syringe.

    About This Treatment

Here is a closer look at how lip filler creates volume and definition, what it can shape beyond size alone, what the appointment feels like, and how a full syringe compares to the mini lip filler option, so you can book with confidence.

    Treatment Pricing

Price shown is for one full syringe (1mL) of Revanesse Lips+. Most patients achieve their desired result with one syringe. Patients who want a more significant enhancement or who are restoring more substantial volume loss may benefit from a second syringe, which your provider will discuss with you during consultation before any product is used. A half-syringe Mini Lip Filler option is available at $349 for patients who want a more subtle result or are trying lip filler for the first time.

Who Lip Filler Augmentation is For

Good Candidates? Is This Right for You?

Lip filler augmentation is appropriate for adults 22 years and older who want to add volume to the lips, restore lip fullness that has diminished with age, improve the definition and clarity of the lip border, address mild asymmetry between the upper and lower lip or between the left and right sides, or achieve a more balanced and proportional appearance to the lower face.

Patients do not need naturally thin lips to be a good candidate. Many patients who seek lip filler have lips they were satisfied with years ago but feel have gradually lost their definition, projection, or fullness over time. Others want a modest enhancement to lips they have always considered a feature worth improving. Both motivations are valid and both produce good outcomes when the treatment is planned appropriately for the patient’s individual anatomy and goal.

This treatment is planned conservatively. A full syringe is the standard appointment, but your nurse practitioner will assess your lip anatomy during consultation and recommend the amount of product that makes sense for your proportions and your goal. The aim in every appointment is a result that looks like a better version of your lips, not a departure from them. We can always add more at a follow-up. We cannot take it out once it is in.

Patients who are uncertain about committing to a full syringe are encouraged to consider our Mini Lip Filler appointment at $349, which uses a half syringe and produces a more subtle result.

This was my second time filler, first with Express Medical Spa. There is no better way to describe the experience other than amazing! The staff was so helpful and friendly while being so early in the morning. The injector, Steph G., did an amazing job explaining what she was doing during the appointment. The numbing cream was perfect and the pain level was very low. She created a beautiful and voluminous shape to my lips. I feel so great with my results and cannot wait to be back for more!

      What To Expect

      Pre & Post Treatment Care

      Pre-Care Instructions
Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 48 to 72 hours before your appointment if medically safe to do so. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, fish oil, vitamin E, and alcohol. Do not stop any prescription medication without consulting your prescribing physician first.
Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.
Arrive with clean, makeup-free lips. Remove all lipstick, lip liner, lip gloss, and any topical treatments from the lip area before your appointment.
Stay well hydrated and eat a light meal before your visit to reduce the chance of lightheadedness during treatment.
If you have a history of cold sores or oral herpes simplex virus, you must disclose this before booking. Any lip injection can trigger a herpes simplex reactivation. Your provider may recommend a short course of antiviral medication before your appointment as a precaution.
Do not schedule lip filler within 4 weeks of laser resurfacing, intense pulsed light, chemical peel, or dermabrasion at or near the lip area.
Inform your provider of all current medications, supplements, recent dental procedures, and any changes to your health since your last visit.
If you have active dental work, an oral infection, or a scheduled dental procedure within two weeks of your appointment, notify your provider before booking.

      Post-Care Instructions

Do not rub, massage, or apply any pressure to your lips for at least 24 hours following treatment.
Avoid lip products for the remainder of your treatment day, including lipstick, lip gloss, lip liner, and balm. You may resume lip products the following day.
Avoid kissing, using straws, and any activity requiring significant lip puckering for 24 to 48 hours as the filler settles.
Avoid strenuous exercise and activities that significantly elevate your heart rate for 24 hours after your appointment.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment to minimize bruising and swelling.
Avoid sleeping face-down on the night of your treatment. Sleep on your back if possible.
Avoid significant heat exposure for 24 to 48 hours, including saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, and prolonged sun exposure.
Mild swelling is expected and typically most noticeable in the first 24 to 72 hours. A cold compress applied gently can help reduce swelling, do not press or massage the lips.
Allow a full two weeks before evaluating your result. Swelling in the first few days can make your lips appear fuller than the final settled outcome.
Contact Express Med Spa immediately if you experience a cold sore outbreak, severe pain, skin discoloration, or any symptoms that concern you after treatment.

      • How Lip Filler Augmentation Works

Lip filler is a hyaluronic acid gel placed precisely into and around the lips to restore or add volume. Hyaluronic acid is a molecule your skin already makes, prized for its ability to attract and hold water, which is why a well-placed filler feels soft and natural rather than stiff.

At Express Med Spa we use Revanesse Lips+, a hyaluronic acid filler designed specifically for lip augmentation. It integrates smoothly into lip tissue, moves naturally when you talk and smile, and is fully reversible, meaning it can be dissolved if you ever change your mind.

      • What Lip Filler Can Shape

Volume is only part of what filler does. Your injector can sharpen the definition of the lip border where it has softened with age, restore the fullness and projection lips lose over time, balance mild asymmetry between the upper and lower lip or between the left and right sides, and bring the lips into better proportion with the rest of your face.

Every treatment plan starts from your anatomy and your goal, whether that is a subtle restoration of what your lips looked like a few years ago or a fuller shape you have always wanted. The result is planned to look like a better version of your lips, not someone else’s.

      • What to Expect at Your Appointment

Your visit begins with a consultation where your nurse practitioner or registered nurse injector maps your lip anatomy and agrees on the plan with you before any product is opened. A topical numbing cream is applied, and Revanesse Lips+ contains a built-in anesthetic as well, so comfort is managed throughout.

The injection portion is careful and unhurried, and the full appointment typically runs 30 to 45 minutes. Downtime is minimal: expect some swelling and possibly light bruising, but most patients return to normal activities the same day. If you have an event or photos coming up, book at least two weeks ahead so your result is fully settled.

      • Results, Settling, and Longevity

You will see a difference immediately, but judge nothing in the first few days: swelling in the first 24 to 72 hours makes lips look fuller than the final result. The true, settled outcome appears at the one to two week mark, which is when the shape, softness, and symmetry your injector planned become visible.

A full syringe typically lasts 9 to 12 months, with longevity varying by anatomy, metabolism, and lifestyle. Patients who maintain their results consistently often find they last toward the longer end, and a mini top-up at around six months is a popular way to hold the result between full appointments.

      • Full Syringe vs. Mini Lip Filler

Lip filler augmentation uses a full syringe (1mL) of Revanesse Lips+, which is the right choice when you want a clearly visible enhancement, are restoring more substantial age-related volume loss, or already know you love the look of filler. Most patients achieve their goal with one syringe.

The mini lip filler uses a half syringe (0.5mL) and suits first-time patients who want to test the waters, naturally fuller lips needing only refinement, and maintenance top-ups between full appointments. If you start with a mini and want more, you can upgrade during a later visit; your injector will help you choose the right starting point at your consultation.
