About This Treatment
Here is how fractional bipolar radiofrequency actually resurfaces skin, where it can be used, what the appointment and the recovery look like, and how Sublative compares with standard microneedling, the PRP add-on, Sublime firming and deeper needle-based RF devices.
Treatment Pricing
Sublative Radiofrequency Microneedling is $495* per session and covers the full face or one body area of similar size, with numbing cream included in the visit. Most treatment plans run 3 to 5 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart; your provider maps the series to your skin at a consultation. Standard microneedling ($295* for the face) and the PRP add-on ($195*) are separate services priced on their own pages. *Pricing is subject to change and is confirmed at a planned consultation with staff.

Who Sublative RF Microneedling in Chicagoland is For
Good Candidates? Is This Right for You?
Concerns Sublative RF Microneedling Addresses
Sublative is chosen for structural surface problems: atrophic acne scars, the rolling and boxcar depressions left after inflammatory acne, which is the concern with the strongest published evidence behind this device; rough or uneven skin texture; enlarged-looking pores; fine lines and early etched-in lines; and mildly crepey skin on the neck, chest and hands. Mild loss of firmness can improve as collagen rebuilds, but genuine laxity is Sublime’s job, not Sublative’s, and your provider will route you honestly.
It is a poor match for a few things, and it is better to know that before you book. Pigment concerns such as sun spots, melasma and redness are not what this treatment is for; IPL on the same platform targets pigment directly, and aggressive resurfacing can make melasma worse. Deep ice pick scars respond least well to any resurfacing device. Active inflammatory acne needs to be controlled first, because treating over inflamed skin worsens it and raises infection risk. And Sublative is not a cure for acne itself, only a way to improve the marks acne leaves behind.
Who Is a Good Candidate
Most healthy adults with realistic expectations about a series of 3 to 5 sessions are suitable. Because radiofrequency does not target pigment, Sublative can be used across a wide range of skin tones, including deeper tones where laser resurfacing carries a meaningful risk of post-inflammatory pigment change; a clinical study in Fitzpatrick types V and VI reported no pigment change in any participant. That is a genuine advantage, not a blanket promise: the studies are small, deeper tones are still treated with conservative settings, and sun protection afterwards matters for everyone. People who have done standard microneedling and want more change per session are frequent Sublative converts.
You are likely to be better served by standard microneedling if your concern is mild texture and budget matters, by Sublime if your concern is sagging rather than scarring, and by IPL or a prescription route if your concern is pigment or active acne. A consultation is free and settles the question honestly.
Safety, Screening, and Who Should Wait
Sessions are postponed for active breakouts, cold sores or any infection in the treatment area, and for sunburn or a fresh tan. Sublative is not offered during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Because the device delivers radiofrequency energy, a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator, neurostimulator or other implanted electronic device is a contraindication, and metal implants in the treatment area need to be raised at your consultation. Isotretinoin within the last six months, a history of keloid scarring, clotting disorders or blood thinners your prescriber has not cleared, immune suppression, and conditions that impair wound healing are all reasons to hold off or plan differently. Never stop a prescribed medication on your own to have a cosmetic treatment.
Every session at Express Med Spa is performed by a licensed medical provider using single-use applicator tips, with a laser and energy device consent and a microneedling consent completed beforehand. Results vary between individuals, and a consultation is the right way to decide whether Sublative or another option fits what you are trying to change.
