Cheek filler before and after for midface volumizing at Express Med Spa

Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Filler

Cheek Filler and Midface Volumizing

The cheeks and midface are the structural center of the face. When volume in this area decreases with age, the effects show up everywhere: flatter cheeks, deeper nasolabial folds, a heavier appearance along the jawline, and a face that looks more drawn and tired than it once did. Restoring that volume with a precisely placed hyaluronic acid filler can lift and re-balance the face in a way that looks completely natural. At Express Med Spa, our nurse practitioners approach cheek and midface filler with an emphasis on proportion and subtlety. The goal is not to change your face but to give it back the structure it has gradually lost.

RESULTS TIMELINE

Results are visible immediately following treatment. Full, settled results are typically seen at the two-week mark once initial swelling has completely resolved. Some patients notice the cheeks appear to slightly over-project in the first few days, which is normal and resolves on its own.

Result Last

12 to 18 months on average for the cheek and midface area. The cheeks are a lower-movement zone compared to areas like the lips or mouth, which tends to support longer-lasting results. Individual outcomes vary based on metabolism, volume used, and lifestyle.

About This Treatment

What is Cheek Filler and Midface Volumizing?

If you have noticed that your face looks flatter, more drawn, or more tired than it did a few years ago without being able to pinpoint exactly what has changed, the cheeks and midface are often the place to look. This is one of the first areas of the face to lose structural volume with age, and the effects of that loss tend to show up everywhere at once.

Cheek filler and midface volumizing is a non-surgical injectable treatment that uses a hyaluronic acid gel to restore volume to the upper and middle portion of the face. When placed correctly by a trained injector, it can lift the cheek area, improve the contour of the cheekbone, and reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds and under-eye hollowing without touching those areas directly. The appointment takes 30 to 60 minutes, requires no downtime, and produces visible results the same day.

Treatment Pricing

Price shown is per syringe. Cheek and midface volumizing is one of the more volume-dependent treatments on the menu. Most patients require one to two syringes to achieve a meaningful result, depending on the degree of volume loss, facial structure, and whether both cheeks are being treated symmetrically in one visit. Patients who also want to address the nasolabial folds or under-eye area at the same appointment may require additional product. Your nurse practitioner will give you a clear volume and cost estimate during your consultation before any treatment begins. A half-syringe option may be available for patients with minimal correction needs.

Who I'ts For

Good Candidates? Is This Right for You?

Cheek filler and midface volumizing is well suited for adults 22 and older who have noticed a flattening of the cheeks, a hollowing of the midface area, or a general loss of the lifted, structured appearance the face had in their younger years. This concern appears most commonly in patients in their mid-thirties and beyond, though some patients experience earlier volume loss due to genetics, significant weight changes, or lifestyle factors.

Good candidates are those who are bothered by one or more of the following: cheeks that appear flat or deflated, nasolabial folds that have deepened as a result of midface descent, a tired or drawn appearance that is not addressed by skincare alone, or a general sense that the face has lost its youthful contour without a single specific cause they can point to. Restoring volume to the midface can improve the appearance of all of these concerns simultaneously, which is why it is often described as one of the highest-impact areas to treat.

This treatment is not a substitute for surgical intervention in cases of significant skin laxity or structural bone loss. Your nurse practitioner will assess your anatomy honestly during your consultation and discuss whether filler, a combination approach, or a referral is the most appropriate path.

Acne-like skin eruptions at or near the injection site.
Skin sensitivity including rash, itching, and tenderness at the injection site.
Skin infection at the injection site.
Skin lumpiness or irregularity at the injection site, often temporary as the product integrates with the surrounding tissue over the first one to two weeks.

Damage to nerves or blood vessels in the treatment area.
Scarring at the injection site.
Skin necrosis (tissue death), rare but serious; contact your provider immediately if you notice skin blanching, mottling, or unusual pain after treatment.
Reactivation of herpes simplex infection (cold sores or skin sores), patients with a history of oral herpes should disclose this before booking any lip or perioral treatment.
Warning: Unintentional injection into a blood vessel is a risk with any dermal filler injection. What To Expect

Pre & Post Treatment Care

Pre-Care Instructions

Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 48 to 72 hours before your appointment if medically safe to do so. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, fish oil, vitamin E, and alcohol. Do not stop any prescription medication without consulting your prescribing physician first.
Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.
Arrive with clean skin. Remove all makeup, skincare products, and topical treatments from the treatment area before your appointment.
Stay well hydrated and eat a light meal before your visit to reduce the chance of lightheadedness during treatment.
Do not schedule this filler treatment within 4 weeks of laser resurfacing, intense pulsed light, chemical peel, or dermabrasion in the same area.
Inform your provider of all current medications, supplements, recent dental procedures, and any changes to your health since your last visit.
If you have a history of cold sores or oral herpes simplex virus, disclose this before booking any lip or perioral filler treatment. Your provider may recommend a short course of antiviral medication before your appointment as a precaution.

Post-Care Instructions

Do not rub, massage, or apply any pressure to the treated cheek and midface area for at least 24 hours following treatment.
Avoid strenuous exercise and activities that significantly elevate your heart rate for 24 hours after your appointment.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment.
Avoid sleeping face-down on the night of your treatment. Sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated if possible. The cheek area can hold swelling slightly longer than other treatment zones, and pressure while sleeping can affect product placement.
Avoid significant heat exposure for 24 to 48 hours following treatment, including saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, and prolonged sun exposure.
Mild swelling is expected and most noticeable in the first one to three days. Some patients notice mild fullness in the cheek area for up to a week before the product fully settles. This is normal. A cold compress applied gently to the area can help reduce swelling, do not press or massage.
Do not schedule laser treatments, intense pulsed light, chemical peels, or dermabrasion in the treated area for at least 4 weeks post-treatment.
Allow a full two weeks before evaluating your result. Initial swelling in the cheek area may make the result appear more projected than the final settled outcome.
Contact Express Med Spa immediately if you experience prolonged swelling beyond one week, changes in skin color, skin blanching or mottling, severe pain, or any symptoms that concern you.
