Mini lip filler before and after subtle lip enhancement Express Med Spa Chicago

Hyaluronic Acid Lip Filler

Mini Lip Filler

Not everyone wants a dramatic change. Some patients want their lips to look a little fuller, a little more defined, or simply more like they used to before volume quietly faded with age. A mini lip filler appointment uses half a syringe of hyaluronic acid lip filler to add soft, natural-looking volume without the more noticeable result a full syringe can produce. It is the right starting point for first-time patients who want to try lip filler without committing to a bigger change, for patients who have naturally fuller lips and want only the subtlest refinement, and for maintenance patients who are topping up between full syringe appointments. At Express Med Spa, every lip filler appointment, mini or full, is performed by a licensed nurse practitioner or registered nurse injector and tailored to your specific lip shape and goals.

RESULTS TIMELINE

Results are visible immediately. Initial swelling in the first 24 to 48 hours may make the lips appear fuller than the final settled result. Optimal appearance is typically seen at one to two weeks post-treatment when swelling has fully resolved. Because less product is used than in a full syringe treatment, the settled result is more subtle and may look more natural to the patient than the immediate post-treatment appearance.

Result Last

6 to 9 months on average. Because less volume is placed compared to a full syringe treatment, the product may metabolize somewhat faster. Individual results vary based on lip anatomy, metabolism, and lifestyle factors. Patients who find their results fading earlier than expected may consider a top-up appointment or upgrading to a full syringe at their next visit.

About This Treatment

What is Mini Lip Filler?

Mini lip filler is a lip enhancement treatment that uses half a syringe of hyaluronic acid filler instead of a full one. The result is softer, more understated, and more natural-looking than a standard lip filler appointment, which makes it the preferred starting point for patients who are trying lip filler for the first time, patients who want only a modest improvement, and patients who are topping up an existing result between full syringe appointments.

It is the same treatment, the same product, the same medical professional, and the same appointment experience as a full lip filler visit. The only difference is volume.

Treatment Pricing

Price shown is for a half syringe (0.5mL) of Revanesse Lips+. If you decide during your appointment that you would like to upgrade to a full syringe, your provider can apply additional product at the same visit for the difference in price. A full syringe lip filler appointment is available at $599 standard. Mini lip filler is a popular starting point for first-time patients and is also used as a maintenance top-up between full syringe appointments for existing patients.

Who I'ts For

Good Candidates? Is This Right for You?

Mini lip filler is appropriate for adults 22 years and older who want a subtle improvement to their lip volume, shape, or definition without a dramatic change in appearance. It is an ideal starting point for patients who have never tried lip filler before and want to see how they respond to the treatment before committing to a full syringe result. It is also well suited for patients who have naturally fuller lips and want only a small refinement, patients who are happy with their current lip size but want to restore definition along the lip border that has softened with age, and patients who are maintaining their results between full syringe appointments with a lighter top-up.

Mini lip filler is not the right choice for patients who want a significant increase in lip size or projection, or for patients whose natural lips are very thin and who would benefit from a more comprehensive volume plan. Your nurse practitioner will assess your lip anatomy and discuss whether a half syringe is likely to achieve your goal or whether a full syringe would serve you better. She will be direct with you about this before any product is used so that you are not disappointed with the result.

What To Expect

Pre & Post Treatment Care

Pre-Care Instructions

Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 48 to 72 hours before your appointment if medically safe to do so. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, fish oil, vitamin E, and alcohol. Do not stop any prescription medication without consulting your prescribing physician first.
Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.
Arrive with clean, makeup-free lips. Remove all lipstick, lip liner, lip gloss, and any topical treatments from the lip area before your appointment.
Stay well hydrated and eat a light meal before your visit to reduce the chance of lightheadedness during treatment.
If you have a history of cold sores or oral herpes simplex virus, you must disclose this before booking. Any lip injection can trigger a herpes simplex reactivation. Your provider may recommend a short course of antiviral medication before your appointment as a precaution.
Do not schedule lip filler within 4 weeks of laser resurfacing, intense pulsed light, chemical peel, or dermabrasion at or near the lip area.
Inform your provider of all current medications, supplements, recent dental procedures, and any changes to your health since your last visit.
If you have active dental work, an oral infection, or a scheduled dental procedure within two weeks of your appointment, notify your provider before booking.

Post-Care Instructions

Do not rub, massage, or apply any pressure to your lips for at least 24 hours following treatment.
Avoid lip products for the remainder of your treatment day, including lipstick, lip gloss, lip liner, and balm. You may resume lip products the following day.
Avoid kissing, using straws, and any activity requiring significant lip puckering for 24 to 48 hours as the filler settles.
Avoid strenuous exercise and activities that significantly elevate your heart rate for 24 hours after your appointment.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment to minimize bruising and swelling.
Avoid sleeping face-down on the night of your treatment. Sleep on your back if possible.
Avoid significant heat exposure for 24 to 48 hours, including saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, and prolonged sun exposure.
Mild swelling is expected and typically most noticeable in the first 24 to 72 hours. A cold compress applied gently can help reduce swelling, do not press or massage the lips.
Allow a full two weeks before evaluating your result. Swelling in the first few days can make your lips appear fuller than the final settled outcome.
Contact Express Med Spa immediately if you experience a cold sore outbreak, severe pain, skin discoloration, or any symptoms that concern you after treatment.
