    How does the AquaFacial work?

It uses a vortex-fusion handpiece that exfoliates dead skin cells and infuses medical-grade serums at the same time, cleansing, exfoliating, extracting, and hydrating your skin in one pass.

  • Stefanie Drozd, Full Practice Authority Nurse Practitioner specializing in aesthetic and wellness treatments

    Which areas can it treat?

The face is the standard treatment area, and your provider can extend it to the neck and decolletage. Serums are chosen for your skin at the visit, so oily, acne-prone, dry, and mature skin can all be treated.

  • Stefanie Drozd, Full Practice Authority Nurse Practitioner specializing in aesthetic and wellness treatments

    What happens during the appointment?

After a brief skin check with a nurse practitioner, your provider cleanses, exfoliates, extracts, and infuses serums over about 45 to 60 minutes. Most people feel only a light suction, with no downtime after.

  • Stefanie Drozd, Full Practice Authority Nurse Practitioner specializing in aesthetic and wellness treatments

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

Skin looks brighter and feels smoother the same day, with no redness or recovery time. Results typically last about 4 to 6 weeks, so many patients treat monthly to maintain the glow.

  • Stefanie Drozd, Full Practice Authority Nurse Practitioner specializing in aesthetic and wellness treatments

    AquaFacial or HydraFacial?

Both use a vortex tip to cleanse and infuse at once. Our AquaFacial uses medical-grade serums your nurse practitioner selects for your skin that day rather than a single fixed product line.

    Who Aqua Facial is For

Good Candidates? Is This Right for You?

The AquaFacial is ideal for patients with dull, congested, or dehydrated skin who want visible results with no downtime. Because the medical-grade serums are customized at each visit, it works across a wide range of skin types and concerns, from oily and acne-prone to dry and mature.

    • Sensitive or reactive skin. The AquaFacial is one of the gentlest resurfacing options available and is suitable for rosacea-prone and post-procedure skin when performed by a trained provider, who adjusts the handpiece pressure and serum blend to your tolerance.
    • Congestion, texture, or early aging. Patients targeting clogged pores, uneven tone, or dehydration often begin every 3 to 4 weeks, then move to a monthly maintenance schedule once the skin is balanced.
    • An event-ready glow. With no redness or recovery time, it is a popular choice in the days before a wedding, photos, or any occasion where you want your skin looking its best right away.

Every AquaFacial begins with a brief skin review by one of our nurse practitioners, who will let you know if an active breakout, cold sore, open lesion, or certain skin conditions mean the treatment should be adjusted or rescheduled. If you are unsure whether the AquaFacial is right for your skin, a quick consultation is the best place to start.

      What To Expect

      Pre & Post Treatment Care

      Pre-Care Instructions
Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids (AHAs/BHAs), or vitamin C serums for 48 hours before your appointment.
Do not wax, thread, or use depilatory creams on the face within 5 days prior.
Arrive with a clean face - no makeup, SPF, or heavy moisturizer if possible.
Stay well hydrated in the 24 hours before treatment for best serum absorption.
Let your provider know about any active skin conditions, recent procedures, or new prescriptions.

      Post-Care Instructions

Avoid applying heavy makeup for the remainder of the day after your treatment.
Apply SPF 30 or higher daily - your skin will be more sun-sensitive for 48–72 hours.
Skip harsh exfoliants, retinoids, and strong actives for 72 hours post-treatment.
Keep skin moisturized using a gentle, non-comedogenic product.
Optimal results are visible at 48–72 hours as skin continues to settle.

      • How the AquaFacial Works

The AquaFacial is a multi-step, medical-grade resurfacing treatment that uses a vortex-fusion handpiece to do two things at once: lift away dead skin cells and debris while simultaneously infusing the skin with hydrating, medical-grade serums. In a single pass the device cleanses, exfoliates, gently extracts congestion from the pores, and delivers hydration.

Because the exfoliation and infusion happen together, the treatment is gentle enough for nearly all skin types yet still delivers immediate, visible results with no redness or recovery time.

      • Areas Treated and Serum Customization

The face is the standard AquaFacial treatment area, and your provider can extend the treatment to the neck and decolletage when you want a more complete result. The step that makes the treatment adaptable is the serum selection: rather than a single fixed product line, your nurse practitioner chooses medical-grade serums based on a brief skin assessment at the time of your visit.

That customization is why the AquaFacial works across such a wide range of skin, from oily and acne-prone to dry and mature, and why the handpiece pressure and serum blend can be adjusted for more sensitive or reactive skin.

      • What to Expect During Your AquaFacial

Every AquaFacial at Express Med Spa begins with a short skin consultation with one of our nurse practitioners, who customizes the serum selection to your skin concerns and current condition. Your provider then works through the cleanse, exfoliate, extract, and hydrate steps over roughly 45 to 60 minutes.

Most patients describe the sensation as a light suction, similar to a gentle vacuum moving across the skin, with a mild tingle during exfoliation. There is no numbing required and no downtime afterward, so you can return to your day right away.

      • Results and Maintenance

The AquaFacial is designed to give you visible results the same day. Skin typically looks brighter and more refreshed and feels smoother and more hydrated immediately after treatment, with no redness to wait out. Most patients leave glowing.

Those results generally last about 4 to 6 weeks. Because the benefits are cumulative and tied to your skin cycle, most patients see the best ongoing results with a monthly treatment, moving to that cadence after any initial series aimed at congestion or uneven tone.

      • AquaFacial vs. HydraFacial and Traditional Facials

The AquaFacial and the HydraFacial are closely related: both use a vortex-based tip that cleanses and infuses the skin at the same time. The difference at Express Med Spa is customization. Our AquaFacial protocol uses medical-grade serums your provider selects for your skin at the time of your visit, rather than a fixed, one-size product line.

Compared with a traditional spa facial, the AquaFacial is more of a medical-grade resurfacing treatment: it exfoliates and extracts more effectively and delivers immediate, measurable hydration, while still being gentle enough for sensitive and post-procedure skin when performed by a trained provider.
